Ukrainian Forces Stopped Enemy Near Pokrovsk On French AMX-10 Tanks

The French AMX-10 wheeled tanks, transferred to the 155th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces “Anna of Kyiv” in 2023, are actively used in the Pokrovsk direction. After training in France, Ukrainian crews successfully use these vehicles to support infantry and deliver targeted strikes against enemy assault groups. Tactical advantages of the AMX-10

According to Ukrainian fighters, the AMX-10 is highly maneuverable and fast, which makes it effective in combat conditions. As the tank commander with the call sign “Yellow” said, the vehicle can turn 360 degrees on the spot, develops a speed of up to 80 km / h on the highway and up to 30 km / h in reverse. This allows the tank to quickly change position, avoiding enemy damage.

Thanks to the hydropneumatic suspension, the tank is able to change the clearance and tilt of the hull, which helps to fire from behind cover and minimize visibility on the battlefield. At the same time, armor protection is limited: the armor thickness is 20 mm, which provides protection from large-caliber machine guns, but makes the vehicle vulnerable to heavy ammunition.

As the commander “Yellow” noted, the crew recently destroyed a group of Russian soldiers concentrated in a forest plantation before an attack on Ukrainian positions. Interaction with attack drones and fire adjustment from the air make these vehicles an important element of defense.

At the same time, despite its mobility and firepower, the AMX-10 is inferior to classic tanks in armor protection and combat capabilities. Due to the lack of gun stabilization, the tank cannot fire on the move, and its armor cannot withstand hits from heavy anti-tank weapons. Therefore, the AMX-10 is used primarily for fire support and rapid maneuvers, while combating enemy armored vehicles is entrusted to other means.
