The reasons have been named.
The Latvian Parliament supported by a majority vote in the first reading the amendments to the Law on Tourism, which ban tourist trips to Belarus and Russia, Delfi writes.
The ban was adopted in order to minimize the risks of possible human rights violations for Latvian citizens, as well as to prevent their recruitment.
“We cannot allow tour operators to continue organizing entertainment trips and transporting full buses of our citizens to countries that shamelessly express their desire to occupy Latvia,” said Gatis Lepiņš, a member of the New Unity party, which initiated the adoption of the relevant amendments.
