Illegals Storming Belarus-Poland Border With Doubled Force

600 attempts have been recorded since the beginning of the year.

Since the beginning of 2025, employees of the Podlaski department of the Polish Border Guard Service have recorded more than 600 attempts to cross the border with Belarus illegally. During the same period last year there were 280 such attempts, MOST writes.

Every day, border guards prevent more than ten such attempts. For example, on 25 February, 11 migrants tried to cross the border (one group was spotted in the area of Narevka outpost, the second - in the area of Plaska outpost), and 30 - on 24 February. At the same time, border guards detained two couriers who were planning to transport border crossers.

However, an increase in the number of attempts to cross the border illegally does not necessarily indicate an increase in the number of irregular migrants. It is not possible to count how many attempts to cross the border illegally are made by the same person. When foreigners see border guards, they often return to the interior of Belarus and then try to storm the border again.

After the border fence was strengthened in the summer of 2024, it became much more difficult for infiltrators to cross the border. Therefore, it can be assumed that the same person has to make more attempts and, accordingly, is more often included in the statistics of the Border Guard Service.
