Russia is entering an energy crisis and is going to import electricity from China, whereas previously it supplied energy to China itself.

As Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes, last year Russia reduced its electricity supplies to China by three times. According to the results of this year, electricity exports to China will amount to less than 1 billion kWh, said Alexandra Panina, a member of the board of Inter RAO. According to her, the reason for the decrease in supplies was the deficit in the unified energy system of the East.

And in early February 2025, the management of the System Operator company proposed considering the possibility of importing electricity from China as one of the measures to cover the energy deficit in the Far East.

Add to this the halt in the modernization of power plants throughout the country due to a lack of money, and the prospects will look even more bleak. Have they stopped being an energy power while trying to build an empire?
