Israel was not given the body of hostage Shiri Bibas, whose children were brutally murdered by militants.
The bodies of hostage Shiri Bibas' two sons, Ariel and Kfir, who were brutally murdered by Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip, have been identified in Israel. However, the third body turned out to be unknown and did not belong to their mother.
This information was released by the country's Defence Ministry after identifying the remains of four bodies handed over by the terrorist group in the morning of February 20. The Times of Israel writes that.
‘Specialists at the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute were not able to identify the body. It did not match any female or male hostage. It is an anonymous, identified body,’ the Israel Defence Forces said.
According to intelligence and forensic reports, the sons of a 32-year-old resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz were brutally murdered by terrorists in November 2023 while being held captive.
At the time, Kfir was only ten months old and his brother Ariel was four years old. Their father Yarden spent 484 days in captivity and was released in early February 2025.
The IDF pointed to a serious violation by the Hamas terrorist organisation, which, according to the agreement, was supposed to return the four dead hostages.
‘We share the Bibas family's deep sorrow at this difficult time and will continue to make every effort to return Shiri and all hostages home as soon as possible,’ the IDF said.
