US-Russia Talks: The Key Topic

The names of businessmen close to the Kremlin were mentioned in Riyadh.

According to my sources, further cooperation between the US and Russia includes not only a personal meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, but also a visit to Russia by a delegation of American businessmen led by Elon Musk. The dates are being discussed, some representatives of the American side believe that there is no rush, and it is necessary to carefully prepare for these events.

Business issues are the key topic of the negotiations between the new American administration and the Kremlin. The Russian side has made interesting proposals, including issues of mineral extraction, in particular, in the Arctic, the work of oil companies, and so on. The issue of lifting sanctions from some Russians whose business is beneficial to American companies or who have specific merits before Trump's people was also part of the negotiations. The names of Deripaska, Fridman, Aven, Potanin were mentioned at some meetings in Riyadh.

The negotiating groups of the US and Russia are built on a single principle — they include people close to the top officials, trusted people responsible for both policy and earnings. At the same time, earnings are at the forefront. Raising issues of values and international law with this approach is pointless. At the same time, Putin talks with Xi Jinping, who is an important partner in the discussed scheme.

This is a very difficult situation when the most powerful country in the West is primarily concerned with obtaining economic benefits, and only then will think about geopolitics, if there is time for this “nonsense”. Now the only language in which it is possible to speak with Washington is the language of numbers. This is what everyone who is trying to build relations with the Trump administration should proceed from. Unfortunately, the Kremlin understood this before others.
