Belarusian Electric Car Production Faces Delays Once Again

The launch of serial production has been postponed again.

The serial production of the Belarusian electric car will not start before 2026. This was reported by the deputy director of the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Aliaksandr Bialevich.

According to him, five test samples have already been assembled, and they are currently being tested at testing grounds.

The Academy of Sciences believes that in terms of design, the Belarusian electric car is not inferior to Chinese analogues, it is inferior so far only in one indicator - price.

"The target cost of the car, we would like it to cost around 25-30 thousand dollars. This is the price we want to drive it to, and we believe that then it will be competitive for the market," Bailevich said.

He added that it is not yet clear whether it will be possible to make such a price for the consumer.

"We are working with suppliers, with manufacturers, on how to reach this price. Because if our car costs 40.000-50.000 dollars, then no matter what government support measures you include, it will not sell, that is, it will be a one-off product,” Bialevich summed up.
