Aeroflot Plane Arrives In Egypt With Five-Meter Broken Cable Tail

  • 25.01.2025, 1:46

The plane was not suspended from flights.

Last Thursday, upon arrival of the Boeing 737 (RA-73098) from Moscow to the Hurghada airport, during a post-flight inspection, ground personnel discovered a five-meter extraneous wire sticking out. According to the Telegram channel “Aviatorschina”, the inspection showed that this was a cable used for grounding during refueling. Sheremetyevo Handling technicians forgot to unfasten it before departure from the capital's airport.

The cable with a crocodile clip, secured to the standard grounding point, was attached to structural elements in the niche of the left main landing gear. There were characteristic signs of a break at the other end of the cable. The aircraft was not suspended from flights — the “tail” itself was detached, and the aircraft commander conducted an inspection and decided to perform a return flight.

Upon the return of the Boeing 737 to Sheremetyevo, during an additional inspection, engineering and technical personnel discovered damage to the main material on the lower left rear part of the fuselage in the form of numerous chips, scratches and damage to the paintwork. The aircraft was suspended from flights to assess its technical condition. Rosaviatsia classified this event as an aviation incident and began its investigation.
